About a deletion request

Hi. A few days ago I applied for speedy deletion of an image that I had uploaded years ago and as I noticed recently, possible copyright violation. It was deemed not to meet the criteria for speedy deletion and sent for deletion request process. After seven days I asked to close the discussion to proceed with the deletion. The admin said that since the image is being used externally, this is a problem and did not delete it. I read the policy and process (Deletion policy, Deletion requests) and did not find such a problem mentioned in cases of deletion requests. What is going on and what can I do from now on? IM-yb (talk) 16:53, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can see you haven't answered what @Abzeronow asked over there, "Can you find details about the 1987 renovation? The photograph would have to show a significant portion of the 1987 renovation to be deleted. Also this was originally built in 1836, and de:Wilhelm von Weiler died in 1878"? This is a legitimate question and per se not a "denial" and you have not attempted to clarify it. ─ Aafī (talk) 17:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IM-yb is talking about a discussion he's had with Turelio on their talk page. I just put in that comment since I am trying to help determine what the actual copyright status is of the building shown in the photograph. Abzeronow (talk) 17:32, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Aafī the question was asked after I first created the discussion here. Thanks anyway. IM-yb (talk) 17:44, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IM-yb: The answer would still be relevant.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 18:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So far, we have found evidence that suggests the 1987 renovation removed a staircase to a side door (and the side door may have been removed). The main entrance and ramp appear to be similar to as they were before 1987 as shown by 1940s photographs, the 1899 renovation appears to have been more significent as far as the exterior, but that might be covered by PD-old-assumed since there doesn't appear to be any information on who did the 1899 renovation. So it looks like it will come down to whether the changes from 1987 are de minimis or not. Abzeronow (talk) 19:08, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to the above, additional changes have been identified on the facade of the building, specifically in the center (covering of an inscription with elements of purple color, shutters removal, replacement of wall with railings and conversion of a mullioned window into a vaulted one). Overall so far, architectural interventions have been identified on the facade of the building on all three floors, which have obviously changed the image of the building compared to the past. Especially the vaulted window in the center reflects the intellectual work of the creator of the 1987 renovation. In any case, since I am now the only participant in the deletion request discussion, how many months can a deletion request discussion be kept open? Can it last for years? IM-yb (talk) 13:56, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Deletion requests can last any time from seven days (usually the simple ones are resolved quickly) to months. I imagine that given the progress in how the backlog has been reduced to just December and January, it's possible the DR will be closed within this month. I am still a participant in the DR (I forgot to comment on it yesterday, I'll do so later if I have time.) Abzeronow (talk) 17:33, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User created some bogus deletion requests, such as Commons:Deletion requests/File:I-35.svg. They've been blocked for that before. LilianaUwU (talk / contribs) 06:02, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And Commons:Deletion_requests/User:Yann, trying to delete an admin's userpage with the explicit reason of admin having been the one who blocked them. I'm indef'ing. DMacks (talk) 20:11, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Main space categories on user pages?

It's probably a minor issue, but I couldn't find guidelines on that question, so I'm asking here whether it's ok for user pages to have main space categories, e.g. User:Prakash2621 has several. I tried to remove the categories, but got the warning to not edit other people's user page and ask here instead. Nakonana (talk) 23:12, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done I've deleted the page as obviously inappropriate usage. --A.Savin 23:25, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
